I have a whole bunch of crazy things going on with my tranny from overheating to gear slippage. Two different sources both agree I need a good rebuild on my E4OD. I haven't gotten any good local prices on rebuilds, but found an outfit in Phoenix which will sell me a rebuilt E4OD for $750.00 exchange.
Is it worth my while to pay someone to remove and replace the transmission, or is this something I can do myself? I've swapped/rebuilt motors, brakes, etc. in the past, but I've never had to mess with a transmission. Any tips or help would be appreciated.
Also, if I was going to do some major upgrades to my motor, like new heads, cam, and a conversion from fuel injection to a carb, would the E4OD still work ok (I ask this because I've been led to believe the E4OD gets sensor info from the motor which helps it to function properly)?
