Peep Mirrors

I need a driver side mirror but do not want to go through the hassle of removing the hinge pin. Does anyone have experience with the "Peep" mirrors attached to the door lip?

I have them on my F-2, IMO they look really nice but they're pretty much useless. There's enough blind spots in a '48-50 cab it really doesn't help to have the little mirrors.

I know you mentioned not wanting to remove the hinge pins but there are only two good options for useable mirrors on our trucks, West Coast type mirrors or another modern type mirrors you'll have to drill holes into your doors to mount mirrors. (These are also good for causing major damage to the door if they snag something) The other option is door hinge mounted mirrors. I assembled set I use on my panel truck, talk about blind spots! They're made of stainless steel parts so there's less maintainance and, to me, look somewhat period correct.

I have a page detailing how I did it:

I agree on the blind spots. Unfortunately, I am not talented enough to do the fabricating for the bracket you made but you did a beautiful job.

I also have a problem withthe blind spots. The small hinge pin mirrors and th epeep mirrors are not big enough by themselves to see standard traffic and th eblind spots, so I mounted one of each on each side. The hinge pin mirrors look back into th elane for traffic and I have the peep mirrors looking down int the quarters so I can see a car just before it enters my peripheral vision. It's a little "glitzy," but it works well no blind spots. One other thing I found that really helps is that I have a convex rear view mirror that really lets me see behind me. I't clips right over the stock rear view mirror so I am still stock, but I can see. Take a look:

Welcome to FTE the best Ford truck Forum on the world wide web!

I can't help you with the visor quest but this is an old old thread. And "Julie" is no longer with us.... The "Julie" persona died when He/she was banned from FTE!

But maybe someone will ba along that knows where you can buy them. In the mean time tell us where you're from and show us pictures of your truck.

To help with the blind spot issues, I put on convex 4" mirrors over the peep mirrors (used 3M adhesive to hold them in place) ..... no more blind spots.

I realize this is an old post brought up for an unrelated question but I thought everyone might want to know rock auto sells a 4 3/8 clamp on universal mirror its about 6$ CAD so probably cheaper USA$. Might work if anyone is thinking of going that root.
