I'm done.
I made a detailed pattern of all four pieces. Complete with the hole placements and 1/4" cutouts for the clips. I took the time to measure these from outside edge to where holes should be. It took me a while to do these. I then made copies to sell. (copies alone were $75.00) And then thought against selling, and decided to just give them away to the serious. I gave a set away already.
I made these around three or four months ago. I then get some a$$ who wants a headliner for the weekend car show. If it's anything like his paint job it's only a disgrace to the truck. I don't hurry to do something to my truck for a show or in my case, a photo shoot for a magazine. I do things right and take my time doing it. If I miss a shoot or a car show, so be it. My truck is more important then a rush job.
This is just the last of guy's here who want something for nothing then bit@^ when you don't produce fast enough.
I run a semi-sucessful parts business for ford trucks ranging from years 1958 to 1975. What I do on this site is for the love of slicks especially the redheaded step child, the 64. So I don't have to sit back and watch some guy rush his truck for a show, making it look like a rush job rather than the pride of owning a "slick."
A rush or mickey mouse job only cheapens the appearence of the "slick".
And it show's!!
Custom work or original, the love of these trucks is what we admire.
While I admire a lot of people here who take their time to do a job right, there's the few that don't. The one's who wait for parts they need to do it right, know it'll be done right when finished. Taking your time is self worth and the love of a new found hobby "Being a Slick Owner."
I met a couple of guy's at this years Western Nationals who drove in on a rusted old 64..... The looks on these two old weathered faces showed pride in ownership. After hearing of their plans for this truck I could only smile and shake their hands. No rush job they just enjoyed driving and owning a slick. I tell you, seeing them in that truck made that truck,
"the coolest slick at the show." No new paint, no headliner, hell hardly had a floor. Yet they loved that slick. That's what it's all about.
Well I rambled on, but an explanation was due.
I will not be selling parts here nor trading or helping in the search for hard to get parts. I'll read the posts from time to time. The ones who have my phone number and e-mail address feel free to contact me anytime.
