I'm curious to see what people have done for seat swaps in the 80s and 90s trucks. I'm rebuilding an 84 stepside and and looking for ideas. I can get my hands on some good rebuildable bench seats, but I'd like something a little more comfortable. Let me know what you've done.
I took my bench out about 5 years ago, and put in seats from a mid '90's Taurus SHO, the driver side is power w/lumbar, passenger side just has lumbar. For the center console, I made a box for a 10 inch subwoofer, took a quick pic for you to give you an idea, the floor is really dirty, my truck is overdue for a good vacuuming.
I found a pair of Bronco buckets and the console, as shown below. I don't know how comfortable they will be as they are out for recovering, but everyone I've talked to says they are very comfortable.
When finished they should look like this, which is taken from the 1981 Bronco sales brochure:
How much trouble were those Taurus seats to put in? The local jy has a couple of sets of nice Taurus seats and since everything is half price this weekend I might go back for a set.

I had to drill new holes for the inner seat frame holes, but I'm pretty sure the outer one's lined up with some shimming with a few washers, only took a few hours to install.
Same seats installed two different ways. The first thread is my fathers truck and has full power to both seats. The second thread is installed in my truck but made mechanical with power lumbar functions.
Gary..You mean "our seat" is going to a new home??..My Bronco seats are low back..Looks like the same console. You will find that the seats must be placed a little closer to the wheel... A few shim to level things..and you are good to go. Did you use all material for the recover..or vinyl/cloth ?..
