I picked up an old unused 3rd brake light from Salvation Army and I'm trying to wire it in my Aero. It has 3 wires, 1 ground and 2 power wires designed to go to the Left and Right lights each. I should be able to combine the 2 power wires together and tap into the Right hand stoplight, right? (I don't need the built-in diode that determines blinking, as we have separate amber turn signals, at least I do with my '92).
Also, upon looking at the tail light, it looks like various previous owners have tapped in, removed, then tapped in again for trailer power - left side is the same! So, to get it right the first time, which wire would I tap into to get the brake light? I think (by memory) there are 2 solid coloured lights, and one multi-coloured.
I'd prefere left taillamp wire. Tailgate wiring is at left side too, easy to run one more wire (there is ground wire in gate, if you use LED light, its resistance about 500 ohm, so no reason to add ground wire)
