I want to hook up the 3rd (high) stop light on the camper shell by just plugging into the trailer light connector on my 2002 Ranger. I find only 4 wires, though: ground, running lights, bright left, and bright right. Brakes energize both brights, and turn signals energize one or the other bright. I don't see an easy way to tap into these easily available wires to get a brake signal.
If I tap into one of the brights, my "brake" light will flash when that side turn signal is activated - that's no good. It seems like what I need is a little magic box that watches for BOTH brights to be on at the same time, then send power to my camper light.
Any insight on this? I hate to go buy yet another thing just to hook this up. Is there an easy way to tap into the cab's brake light? How do the camper shell guys do it so easily?
Run a wire all the way up to the switched connector on the brake pedal switch.

If I remember correctly, Rangers have seperate brake and turn indicators at the back of the truck. If this is the case then you simply need to tap into one brake light on either side to hook up your third brake light.
My brothers 98 had seperate brake and turn lights but, had them combined on the trailer connector.
