87 f150 hub help
he i have an 87 f150 4x4 with a 300 in it, it has the dumb 1 piece hubs
on it, the plastic locking part is broke off on both sides, and it locked in all the time, i was wandering it their is any way to put the newer style hubs on it for less than almost 700 dollars.

Surely you can buy a set of Warn or Milemarker hubs and replace the entire hub and locking assembly. If you are gonna replace them, then just tear into it enough to disengage them and go from there...
Maybe I'm missing something or someone could chime in. My '90 was the same..Stupid plastic part broke and I said to heck with this and changed the entire assembly

You guys are missing that this is an '87, which means it has the one-piece flange hubs. You cannot just replace the hubs with off-the-shelf milemarkers. Aftermarket support for this axle is absolutely non-existent.
OP, I'm not sure what parts interchange between your axle and a normal Dana 44, but you can either tear both axles down or just drop the whole thing out and replace it. If you go that route make sure your new gear ratio matches. It shouldn't cost much at all if you get the axle from the junkyard. TTB Dana 44's are a dime a dozen at the yard, you shouldn't pay more than scrap value.
