i upgraded to a powermaster 100 amp 1 wire alternator and withen seconds it seemed to self detonate it is very hard to to turn and when running it sounds like rocks in a coffie can. did i install it wrong whats going on here are they not a good brand? thanks
I installed a 1 wire in my truck. Only have about 40 minutes of run time, but its working good so far. I just hooked 1 10 guage wire from the alternator straight to the batter side of the selanoid. Sounds like you got one with a bad bearing. I would send it back. Should still be under waranty. I would stop running it immediately. I had a regular alterantor that had a bearing go bad and I didn't stop using it in time and it caught fire. When I say in time I mean within 10 minutes.
alright this is where it gets interesting this is my second one already the first one did this in a matter on min. so did the second one could it be 2 bad ones in a row it would be kind of wierd sending back the same product within a week of each other would they send me a 3 one. it just seems a little ironic to have 2 defective parts.
Its a one wire. Only thing you could possibly do wrong is over tighten the belt. I would say yes they sent two bad ones. I would definately make sure they refund your cost for shipping it back.
Don't have enough experience to recommend. I bought mine through summit. They have a great search feature to narrow down whats available for your engine. I've been very pleased with their customer service.
I had a sway bar kit come without the mounting hardware. Make one call and they had it to me within 2 days without having to send back what I had and get a whole new bar and mounting kit.
The alternators used in 1965/79 F100/350 are the exact same alternators that the 1965/79 cars used, as is most if not all of the same electrical components.
People think because it's a truck, the parts are truck only.
Look under that hood...what electrical parts are truck only?
