Smoke20, cut off both cats and run a cheap glasspack or turbo muffler with a full length tailpipe. I have actually noticed increased power on my butt dyno by running full length tailpipes as opposed to dumped under the cab (don't laugh at me guys, it's true!)
Let us know what you think. How many converters do you have? Two?
6cylbill- i had the same thing happen when i still had my 4 popper ranger.
IMO, egr is the best emmisions device created (when they are working they do what they are supposed to, and can help mileage) and the pump is the worst (just...dumb)
get it tuned up and running properly, if you still want more do some mods, if that doesn't do it for you, just add boost...
just one converter, and I plan on running a single turbo muffler with a full length tail pipe.I hope it will give me the best "fake cummins" sound.
butt dyno Ha!
Let me tell you something man, when a 300 hits that magical RPM, it sounds just like an I6 Diesel. I heard what I thought was a Cummins wrapping up the other day when I turned and looked only to see an old Ford pulling itself up hill. There was no Dodge in sight. There's no doubt that was a 300 doing it's thing. I was impressed. No ricey tone at all.. Just an I6 diesel!

Really? I wonder why this is. Maybe it has something to do with the scavenging.
