how to replace oil filter threads on block???
This is it. There's nothing along the Gold Coast either.
HANSEL FORD in Santa Rosa / SUSANVILLE FORD in Susanville / BIG VALLEY FORD in Stockton / MARTY FRANICH FORD in Watsonville / MADERA FORD-MERCURY in Madera / MCLEOD FORD in Riverdale.
I looked at all the CA dealers, using the FoMoCo parts locator system. What I posted was it considering the span between both zips.
The Gold Coast is Ventura, Santa Barbara, Oxnard (93033) and Port Hueneme = pronounced why-ne-me for those that are unaware.
the mustang is in 93033, and yes i am in marysville ca.
and oh yea, no luck screwing out the adapter. all the threads are broken off due to the crack widening trying to get a tap in there. i will be livid if i have to repull the motor (460 in a mustang is super tight and not easy to line up holes with the setup).
how would a machine shop get this thing out now? i will call up the machine shop tomorrow and let them know they let me down with this and see if they got the part, if not i will start ordering it somewhere.

^ ^ That's the wrong one, it's for a 1980 and later 460.
NOTE WHAT THE SPECS ARE. IT HAS THREADS ON BOTH ENDS =
F1AZ6890B .. Insert / 3/4" -16 & 1 1/16" -12 male threads / 1 13/64" long / shoulder type insert to attach filter to cyl. block.
Fits: 1968/79 429/460 (except 429 CJ & S/CJ) / 1980 and later 460 is NOT the same / 1962/65 221/260 / 1963/68 289 / 1968/96 302 / 1970/74 351C/400 / 1975/82 351M/400 / 1969/96 351W.

He posted D7AZ6890A which Ford replaced with D7AZ6890B (this was due to a package quantity change only).
In 1991, Ford replaced D7AZ6890B with F1AZ6890B which is the current part number and still available from Ford.
Why don't you just order the part from a local dealer? It shouldn't take more than a day or two to get it. EDIT: The Sacramento Ford parts depot has TWENTY EIGHT in stock.
This ebay part is located in MICHIGAN, so it will take time to get to CA and you will have to pay shipping (and maybe handling) charges.
I gave you the correct part number on 7/12, if you had ordered it the next day, you wooda had it by now.
btw: How far are you from Stockton? Doncha have to take 99 south from Beale AFB? The Stockton dealer (BIG VALLEY FORD-MERCURY) has one in stock.
i appreciate all the help. the reason why i'm not in the huge rush to get the part is because i'm back in northern cali, and the mustang is is southern cali. i won't make it back there until roughly the 15th of next month.
i also need a timing pointer for this motor as well.
and the old plug is still in the block and i need some other ideas how to get it out.

well i got the part in today from ebay (very quick), and i did talk to the machine shop who did my motor. they said to use penetrate oil and then use specifically a "square" easy out. he said something thats been in the block for 38yrs needs to get a very good bite. i will head over to a shop to find the perfect sized square easy out and bring the new adapter to make sure i get the right size.
after i could get this plug out, its pretty fast sailing til the motor gets the new start up since the last rebuild (#6 rod bearing spun)

(sigh)
Nothing is EZ when it comes to Ford.
There are THREE different timing pointers, which one would you like?
CA only: 1973 (D2VZ6023A) / 1974/76 (D4VZ6023A)
Everything else 1968/73 429 / 1968/96 460: D0OZ6023A replaced by E7TZ6023B Both of these are obsolete.
I assume you do not want the CA only pointers.
D0OZ6023A =
BAKERS AUTO in Putnam CT has TWO = 860-928-9228.
No one else has any.
---------------------
I had somewhat better luck finding E7TZ6023B =
FENTON MOTORS in Pampa TX has TWO = 800-374-5584.
ARROW FORD in Abilene TX has ONE.
WHITES FORD in Urbana OH has ONE.
DOWNS FORD in Toms River NJ has ONE.
HERITAGE FORD in Weatherford OK has ONE.
DENNA FORD in Rolla MO has ONE.
It's a good thing you aren't in any hurry. If you go to a CA wrecking yard to look for one, make sure it isn't one of the CA only pointers.

thanks for the help guys, before i left for vacation with the family i was able to get the oil filter adapter out. i had to buy about 65 dollars worth of tools but it was worth it. i had to buy a 3lbs sledge hammer to get the big big screw extractor in, screw extractor of course, and a t-handle that would fit. the t-handle that fits was huge and expensive (over 2 feet). when i got the 1st few turns, i bought it was spinning in the adapter and i told myself theres no way a square tap is turning in a round hole and its overly slammed in there. but then i saw the square cut into the metal and kept on turning. and boy did it sound like i was removing concrete. after a while the turns wouldn't come until i disconnect the motor mounts and tilted the motor.
today i got back from a 2 week vacation and tomorow is back to work. so today is a must to get the motor running.
