I have the early model. It has three settings Tow-Race-Extreme. You can notice a big difference with all three. Dont know what version you are looking at but the early ones are very limited. Others here will steer you towards a DP tuner. Its seems to be the ducks guts in regards to power stroke tuners.
As far as problems go...there isn't really much to go wrong with it short of operator error (like turning off the key while programming).
It will make your truck more responsive and powerful.
But........
It will make your accelerator pedal touchy.
It will make your transmission shift HARD (with an auto).
It will NOT alter shift and torque converter strategies short of raising the shift points. So if you have a crappy PCM calibration to begin with, you will have a crappy calibration after that shifts hard.
You can expect better mileage and a better running truck with tuning that is fairly mild and safe for your engine's bottom end.
I do have have the edge evo with tow race and extreme. so is it normal that my trans shifts hard. it also seems to rev high on highway speed 70 at two grand.
there is a big difference in off the shelf tuners and tuners that are custom made. I would personally go with the DP because i have personal experience. I have used an off the shelf tuner and there is no comparison to the DP tuner.
Im running the evo II on my e-99 and i hate it! Sucks changing settings, i feel its hard on the tranny, and has a really touchy pedal! Only reason i bought it was bcause of the gauges. And now my pyro quit and its not even a year old. P.O.S in my opinion! Never again And to top it off edge wants me to pay shipping for them to do warranty work! I don't think so, i paid for a working programmer with a year warranty so why is it up to me to pay more? Also the dealers can't help you at all! I called the guy i bought it from and he told me it was between me and edge now! He is no longer involved.

If you have anything close to stock size tires and 373 rear end, you have the right RPM for 70mph.
As for the tuner, I would have to recommend the DP tuner. Jody and Diane have great customer service and a fantastic product line. They sponsor this forum. Just click on the link in the upper right hand side of this page.

70 @ 2000 is bout right for me, maybe a little lower.Like HKusp said it depends on your ratio and tryes. As for the shift, its firmer I wouldnt say its hard.
