I'm trying to identify all of the parts in the 76 F-150 i recently acquired and after searching posts for hours on end, i am unable to identify the transfer case. I know this much, it has a 390 with a C-6 bolted up to it and i found these numbers on the t case. the top 2 tags had a "14" followed by the next tag with "11-74." I assume the 11-74 would mean the production date was November 1974. Below the tags C-11865 were cast on the housing. Below that "PTZ or PT2" were cast on the housing. I also found 11-13 or 11-B followed with C-11871 underneath it. Those two had a "U" beneath them. This last set of numbers was found on a piece between the t case and the tranny. Which one it belongs to is unclear to me as I have never dealt much with the tranny t case end of things. Any light shed on what these numbers mean would be greatly appreciated.
I think you only have three choices, it's either a Dana 21, which is a single speed with no low range (Only in 100's as far as I know), a New Process 205 part-time 2-sp or a NP 203 full-time 2-sp. Don't know of any other that was put in these. The selector stick should tell you which one you have, 205-from the seat forward is 4 Hi, 2 Hi, N, 4 L. 203-has 4 Hi-loc, 4 L-loc with a couple of other positions in there, can't remember what others right now, but hope you get the idea, hope this helps!
