Stock Ford PowerCode Alarm
In the last 3 months, any vehicle that drives by sets it off. Heck it even went off sitting in the garage when nothing possibly could have caused it to go off. So I've been using the Ford provided manual to try and adjust the sensitivity, but haven't had much luck. Now last night when trying to adjust it, something must have gone wrong, cause now it doesn't arm. Well, it does arm (without any alarm), but only after I put the key in the ignition. Basically I am unable to turn the engine over, unless I press the override button on the bottom of the dash first. Boy was I about to ****e my pants last night when we went to take the kids to the pool.
Now I have tried calling the 800-FORD-KEY number provided, but that is a joke. Got me a list of all possible model #'s for Ford alarms, but I can't locate the model # on any of the installed equipment. Any idea's where to look? After I can locate the model #, I can request a installation and owners manual, which hopefully will help me determine the problem and how to fix it.
My only other option, since the truck is still under the 3yr/36K warranty until December, is to take it in to the dealer. Which I'd prefer to do it myself, just in case this happens again outside the warranty period.
Any ideas where I can locate the model # of the CodeAlarm PowerCode system I have? Thanks in advance!
There may be something on the personality module that pulls out of the base box if you don't see anything on the box itself. If they zip-tied it up under the dash like I did, it's probably going to be a bitch to get that module out without cutting the whole thing loose.
It sounds like that personality module may be going wacko.
I'm all for fixing stuff myself...but if it's electrical and it's free...that puppy sees a Dealer.
otherwise, I would talk to Travis at KC Autosounds. He is considered an Expert for the 2004+ F-150 when you talk alarms and general electronics.

ALOT of Ford guys love and recommend his work/products...maybe he can give you a heads up
Well I did find the module under the dash, and yes it was zip tied up there. Was a pain in the rear to get a good look at it, but still cannot locate a model # anywhere.
So it sounds like it's time for a warranty check up. Weill be a good time to have them replace my grille emblem, as there are fading spots in the center turning the blue into a baby blueish type color. This might be my last trip under the 3yr/36K warranty, so I'm trying to locate any/all problems to have fixed in this one service. Now I do have an ESP that covers me through roughly 6yr/60K miles, but have to track down the paperwork.
And like others, I usually try to have the dealer perform all work under warranty, but I figured this should be easy enough to tackle myself. Being all my other vehicles have had aftermarket alarms on them and changing the sensitivity was easy. This Ford system, no so much.
