Fuel problem!!

Guys I have a problem that is driving me nuts!! I changed the fuel filters on the truck and I think the truck may have gotten air in the system as I was told that wouldn't let the car start... How could I drain the system of Air. Please share your knowledge guys I desperately need your help!!!

Tell us the procedure you used to change the filters and some info on the truck. What brand fuel filters did you use?

turn the key to on/engine off and listen for the fuel pump..leave it on for a few seconds.. turn the key off.. repeat this a few/several times and the system should be bled..

Did you snap the filter into the cap and then screw it in? Did you use new o-rings? Did yoyu lubricate the o-rings w/ oil? Are you sure you are not cross threaded? Did you use a torque wrench on the caps or just tighten "by feel"?

Filter was snapped onto the cap, new o rings were used, did not find lubrication necessary... Tightened by feel,,, is there a necessary torquing specification? And what do you mean by cross threaded?

Oil lubrictaion is always a good idea. It keeps the o-ring from getting dried out from the fuel and it helps it stay in place when the filter is installed (they can "kink" although it is rare).

The filter packaging includes instructions that have the torque specs. How necessary it is, I do not know for sure. However, I have heard of folks cracking the plastic cap from over tightening the cap.

Lots of folks have found it awkward to get their hand (and tools) on the HFCM filter cap. If it is not started correctly when screwing the cap on, the metal threads of the housing can be off set from the threads of the plastic cap. This can damage the cap threads when trying to tighten the cap down. The cap will then eventually leak.

I quit using a torque wrench on the fuel and oil caps, it would click before the cap was seated completely because the o-ring was too tight. I just tighten until the cap seats and give it a little more snug.
