i found a 1977 ford f150 for sale down the road from where i live, i only stopped because there was an old car for sale and the truck was along side it and i was talking to the guy for a while bout the car....then i asked bout the truck and he said it is his dads and hes selling it...so heres the scoop on it...its a 77 4x4 automatic 351 not sure if its cleveland of modified....but what his dad used to do with it is town campers or something and they replaced the box with boards and put a 5th wheel type or thing he said...the interior is in great shape very very minimal rust pretty much looks redone the paint is decent will need new tho dent in the bumper...and the one belt squeels for a few seconds when started up so that will need replaced.....im 16 and i took my dad down to look at it and hes into the old ford pickups hes owned a few 79s and older so he looked it over and all......the guy said make an offer so we did which was 800 without the 5th wheel thing and he said he would take it....is that a good deal...can i get some advice of this if anyone can please?
hi 77 and welcome to fte.I think 800 is a great deal for a solid old truck.sounds like a good start to a first truck.did they replace the box with a wooden deck or a whole box?
Sounds like a good deal to me too! Keep us posted, and we would love to see some pictures just as soon as you get a chance. Lastly, welcome to FTE, plenty of good knowledgable people on her who are more than willing to help you out.
yea it seems like the exhaust was just put on and it sounds amazing when it runs and the body is in excellent shape and northeaster79 they took the whole box off and it kinda looks like a small version of a flat bed but it can easly be replaced with an actual box
Sounds like a decent deal to me. FYI, if the 351 is original then it's a Modified; Clevelands never went into trucks and Windsors didn't go into trucks until much later.
If the motor is original, then he's wrong. Pictures of the engine would end the argument immediately.
