What does this code mean?
Hey folks, I'm getting a code 634 "Transmission Manual Lever Position Sensor circuit out of self test". What kind of sensor is this and where is it located? I'm assuming it is somewhere on the transmission, but what does it control? Thanks.

It's the sensor on the side of the transmission that tells it what position the gear selector is in. I'm not sure why it would throw a code, but if you aren't having any problems with the tranny suddenly dropping into neutral I wouldn't worry about it.

About the only thing I can say for sure is that the transmission will someitme shift hard and it sometimes wants to shift up and down like its hunting the right gear. Its not real bad and it only does it sometimes. Other than that its fine.
