Automatic to Manual
I have an '88 F150 with a 351W and a Automatic electonic Overdrive tranny in it. I am interested in swapping out that and putting in a manual tranny. Does anyone have any tips on doing this? Is there another tranny that can be swapped in. I know I have to put in the clutch, that should be easy... When I say swapped in I just mean take the auto out and put in the manual with no driveshaft modifications. It seems like there would be. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

So if I get the tranny I want with whatever transfer case it is hooked to I should be able to bolt it right in there and change the driveshaft lengths? Is the driveshaft modification expensive? Can I do it with a torch and a grinder or should I let someone that knows what they are doing handle it?

The drive shafts should be balanced or the u-joints won't last long.
