Tune Up
Howdy,
Well I've decided to keep my 4.9 for a while and upgrade the interior. But I wanted to clean up my engine. It has around 115,000 miles on it. The past couple of months I have noticed a good amount of MPG decrease than I was running about a year ago, and the check engine light has been on for about 3 years.
any ideas. Also I wanted to give my truck a really good tune up. I need some suggestions as to what to tune up. thanks and gig 'em

get the codes read would be a good place to start...after u find what they are, test to confirm a bad part and replace.
as for a tune up...
Cheap autolite plugs
Good wires (not the baseline crap)
Cap/rotor with brass contacts
Fuel Filter
Air Filter
PCV valve
Check and change timing to 12* BTDC and adjust as needed
that is about it for a tune up. not knowing what the codes are really doesnt help us decide what is causing the poor milage.
