shift kit in 1997 F150

I have a 1997 F150, 4.6V8, 3.55 conventional rear end. I was thinking of putting a Trans-Go shift kit in it. A performance orientd transmission shop said that to really do this transmission right, you couldn't just drop the pan. You need to drop the tranny and do some other work as well. As anyone done anything like this to their transmissions?

As far as I know a shift kit for your truck plugs into the harness. You should have the e4od which is computer controlled. All of the shift kits I know of for your trans simply plug into the harness to the trans.
