Hey all, I'm new here and was wondering if anyone has done a conversion from a bench seat to the captains chairs, and how it's done. My Uncle's 2000 F-250 had the captains chairs with the console and I like it a lot better than the bench seat I have in my 05'. Any help? BTW would I have to get all new chairs, or just can I take out the center part and add on armrests.
Adding armrests would prove a bit difficult without some fab work.
If you find a set of capt's with a console it is a direct swap.
You have an actual bench or a 40/20/40 seat? If you have the 40/20/40 (which you probably do) then just get an 08 console. It bolts right in and no need for armrests since the lid is the armrest.
Along the same lines... were there any differences in the seat mounts between the models? For my 09 which I know I am going to need to do something (either add console or swap in captains chairs) what year seats will fit? I dont need both just something to put my darn arm on lol. I havent even got it yet and realized I made a terrible mistake with the seats. It seams totaly asanine that Ford doesnt have any armrests or console on the bucket seats...
Yes, it is a 40/20/40, with the fold down console. It's just a personal preference with the captain's chairs. But the chairs look exactly the same as the captains with the console. I might as well get a whole new front, but the captains chair with floor console give the cab a more spacious feel, which I like. Thanks for all your responses.
I have captains chair in my 250 and would prefer the 40/20/40 seats. My old 250 had captains chairs with arm rests and loved them. New chairs have a slight thigh support. Other than that the only difference is the counsel. I miss the armrest. You want to swap?

I did this modification. I just removed the bench. Purchased used captains chairs and console for $600. Sold mine for $200. So cost me $400 bucks. I don't regret it at all. Just loose 1 person seating capacity. All the holes lined up. You will have 2 extra holes that you will just plug with the old bolts. All F250/F350 were prewired for power seats so the wires are already there and plug right in. The holes for the console are already in the floorboard, but you will need to put some sort of retainer bolt or I used a plastic insert that fit perfect in the hole and a screw screwed tightly into it.
Hope that helps. You will find interiors for the 99-07 all day long.
