87 captains chairs in a 90

time for a new seat. my 90 has 216,000 miles on it and i need to have my seat or reupholstered. founf a seat at pick-a-part in a 87 dually, captains chairs and center console. i can get the whole setup, mech and all, for $100.00. d have to have them reupholstered, im sure it would cost a pretty penny. right now my bench is adjusted all the way back. my concern is that the captains chair seems to be thicker than my old bench seat. i dont know how much closer ill be sitting to the steering wheel. anyone done this swap.

The cab type matters when swapping seats. Is the donor the same size cab as yours?

There is a big difference between 2016,000 and 216,000.

I quoted you, you changed it!

So there was a typo ...

2 mil would be impressive!

That is, by far, the best and easiest way to put bucket (captain) seats in a regular cab. It's the way I went along with Explorer seats.

FWIW, I happen to have one of those seat trays with tracks for sale. Contact me off-line if interested.

That should work then. But I've seen some "very redneck" installs of bucket seats, so inspect how the mountings are done before buying. The factory approach works very well and leaves you with easy and (junkyard) plentiful options for replacement. (i.e. lots of common Fords with bucket seats sharing the same bolt-pattern.)

I put a set just like those in my '91 F150. I love them!
I'm sitting a little closer to the steering wheel with them, but not by a lot.

what kind of truck is that "captain's bench" out of? Mine has a bench seat and I don't want to mess with adding bolt holes towards the center of the floor.

I tried to reply to your PM but your settings won't allow it. But in short, get the tray and tracks for $100 and then you can chose from thousands of Ford seats at the junkyard.
