Rob this is Timsfordtruck, sounds fishy to me! I have a 2003 F250. I to have the same issue with tow/haul as you. My issue started as yours did, I lost my alternator and batteries suddenly with no warning. I have drove the truck over 600 miles this weekend. No issue with transmission at all!! But all I have to do is engage tow/haul and the light will start blinking!! I have the same codes as you and DREAD the visit to the shop to see what they will "try" until they find the correct soloution! It sounds purely electrical or possibly software to me. I'm going to investigate to try and get as much information as I can, drop the pan and look at the solenoid valves for myself. I did have an issue with my temperature sensor a couple months back. I changed the sensor myself and the issue was gone. taking out the alternator makes me think some sort of unfused direct ground.
I have this exact same problem. I had a short and killed the entire electrical system (not so funny story involving a chipmunk). After that this exact same symptom is occurring. A minute or so after tow/haul is engaged truck will lurch and the tow haul light will blink. This doesn't happen except when the tow haul button is pressed. Anyone ever figure out the solution to the problem?
Thanks for the info guys. The trucks at the shop but I have one more question. I call the shop and they inform me they are out road testing the truck. 30 minutes latter I get a call that says I need a new trans. 1st 2nd and 3rd gear clutches are bad including the solenoid. My question is how are you able to make this DX without dropping the pan. The trans Temps have always been normal and have had no indication of slipping. Can you tell all this from codes or do I need a second opinion
Did you get a second opinion, how did you fix this?
