Okay I am new here and have had great luck with me 6.0 but now have a serious issue.I have 117000 on this engine.A couple weeks ago my fan chewed up my wiring and the truck started over heating I had someone else driving the truck.I got a call it was overheating and took it back to the shop. This wasn't the only time it overheated. It never got hot enough to create steam or boil the fluid.I replaced the fan and went for a drive.Truck was .great .I was heading back to the shop .I turned around and started accelerating and I got what sounded like a backfire and I lost power. I got back to the shop and ran for codes. I got a 2262 saying no mechanical boost.I took the turbo off and opened her up.The unison ring was worn out and those fingers were either stuck or worn inot the housing,I replaced the trubo. Now I have another problem.I get a 2262 code as well as 2263 code .I still have no power and if I give WOT I get all kinds of blue smoke and it misses and bucks like crazy. If I back off the throttle the smoke goes away and it smooths out but still not much power. Please help someone I am at my wits end here. What could cause all this ? Thanks
Common areas -
Y pipe and up-pipe bellows
CAC boots (Charge Air Cooler)
CAC tubes (if plastic)
CAC itself
intake leaks are less common (especially since you heard a loud noise)
It's a 2006 F450 with 117000 miles on her.I replaced the turbo because it was seized up on the exhaust side.I hear a loud bang when test driving and lost power.
I wish it had been that simple as boot coming off. They are all on the boots that is. I am using a Genisys 3.0 made by OTC.I took it out again and as long as I don't put my foot into it it will go,I got some new codes by scanning the whole system. I got a B1891 and a B 1342. I am no wondering if my rig needs to be reflashed ?
Peek under the plastic flaps on each side of the radiator and see if the blue seal is hanging out of the intercooler where the plastic ends are crimped on.
Think I learned it from you Mark . I've seen one do that and we scratched our heads a bit before we found it. I don't ask many questions here because I can usually find an answer here somewhere with the search feature and your spread sheets. Thanks for all you do here!
I will check the charge air cooler guys.Thank you so much for all the help you guys have given me.I took the truck out late this afternoon and may have come on to something here. Not sure what it is worth but here goes. The engine will start up great . If I take off slowly and keep the RPM 2000 or below the truck doesn't act up.The throttle is barely depressed. After I get up to speed everything will stay smooth.Just not the horsepower there was.If at any time I try to go over 2000 the engine will miss and just kind of sit there. Then the tranny will drop a gear and the RPMs go up even more and I get blue smoke. So guys keep the ideas coming I need the help.I was wondering about a re flash too. Thanks
If you have someone you trust to do it, have them brake torque the truck (with the parking brake set and wheels chocked!) and listen around the engine compartment for a boost leak. It could be the intercooler side tank blown out, a boot split or a boot popped off.
