hey i got an 01 f250 super duty and when the parking lights are on the **** wont pull out for the fog lights, only when the headlights are on. ive seen super dutys with parking lights and fog lights on before. does anyone know do the newer models headlight switch allow this?
thanks
my 06 and now my 08 will come on with park lights and fog lights only, fogs will stay on when you switch the headlights on too. But if you use the brights the fogs will go out.
There is a mod that can keep them on but the design is comply with state laws.
Mine does what you describe (park lights and fogs on) and I have an 04. Maybe a newer switch will do the trick? Maybe somebody else can shine some more light on this...
So...why would you want your fog lights on with just your parking lights...
Correct me if I'm wrong, here...but aren't fog lights to help you see better? And if so, and you're driving in conditions where you need to see better, aren't your headlights supposed to be on?
Honestly, I can't stand it when you see people running around at dusk or after dark with just parking lights and fog lights on...it's illegal and makes you harder to be seen...
Actually, there IS a thread, from five years back, that deals with this exact thing. It is not the one referenced above.
It involves taking apart the switch itself and modifying a plastic part inside to allow the switch to work when in the parking position. I read it years ago and thought it was pretty slick, though it doesn't apply to my 2000 at all.
Just did this Mod tonight with my 01 F350. Worked great! Thanks!
Oh, and to answer one of the above questions on why fog lights without headlights. We camp a lot and as a courtesy to other campers, I'd like to turn off my headlights while driving into/out of the campground at night but rely on the fog lights do light up down low (i.e. not in anyones eyes). Now with this mod I'm all set as well as having them work with the high beams.
