I always laughed when I saw a rear window wiper running with no dirt or water to wipe away or just smearing dirt.....well whoever owned my Excursion before me must have been one of those idiots. Well.....how do I remove the rubber residue build-up on the glass? It does not seem scratched (maybe a little) but appears to be a build up like soap scum. Any ideas? I've only tried window cleaner. Not sure if soft scrub will scratch. Thanks for any help or input, Mike.
I'd wash it really well first...then carefully try a single edge razor blade if there's built up junk you can feel.
If that doesn't work, I have had very good results with Zaino's glass polish. I use it with a Porter Cable buffer...and it's alot of work...but I have removed even acid rain from my Ex's windows with this.
If you have the paint cleaning clay...you may want to try that as well.
Thanks Matt.....I do have an inspection sticker scraper/remover (razor blade) I can try. It's like a tar build-up.....maybe G-96 or WD-40 will dissolve/cut it. I'll try the glass polish also, Mike.
I think it is 1000 ( ONE THOUSAND ) # 0000 grit steelwool. Just hit up an auto parts store that sells automotive paint and pick up a pack. It will clean the windshiels glass like new
