Superduty window TSB.

Just a heads up My 2006 F350 collects dirt in the window weather stripping, which in turns causes deep scratches in the glass. For anyone else with this problem, Ford has a TSB out for this. They replace weather stripping and any window the is scratch is replaced. Do it!!!

I had mine replaced while still under warranty! Replaced the front glass and stripping...

Guess what.... THEY ARE NOW SCRATCHED AGAIN!

I'll just have to live with it I guess, unless there is someway to buff out the glass! I also have taken extra care to ensure the stripping is clean and it still scratched.

I have 40K miles on my truck, and now I am just starting to get the scratches. Let me guess... they wont cover it? Haha

Maybe if you have a real nice dealer! or maybe they could give you a nice discount? I have the updated seals and it's obvious it does not fix the problem.

To avoid scratched you must keep the weatherstriping clean at all times and don't roll down the windows!

It's just a matter of time and the scratching will be back. I have tinted windows so it's easier to see the scratches.

Don't waist your time getting the new window molding ,I had mine raplaced twice still get deep scratches and they don't pay for your tint job if you have it .

If you want to hear more countless window stories do a search .

I had factory tint - the 3 year / 36,000 mile warrantee covered everything for me. I decided to get it done, even though some stated the windows would scratch again. If it costs you nothing = go for it. If I had to pay for tinting each time, I would probably wait and have it done right at 36,000 miles and then wait until it got pretty bad before doing it again on my own $$.

The main thing is that we know that it is prone to happening - we just need to take care of it as best we can by keeping it clean and minimizing the window use when dirty.

Not the best situation, but liveable.

This is only covered under the 3/36 warrantee? I just notice two scratched on the drivers side window and I have 39k. Am I out of luck since I'm out of warrantee?

I had this done on mine under warranty around 5k ago... no problems yet, but sounds like I can look forward to the same deep scratches again. That's garbage.

On the same token, I brought in the TSB regarding the turbo bracket for the '06 due to a resonance/humming from the turbo around 2000 rpms, but the "could not recreate the problem" on that one... Next time I'm in at the dealer I'll be taking the service tech for a drive with me; we may have to go 68 mph in a 55, but he's gonna hear it before I'm through!

At the top of this page there is a section for "Recalls/TSB's". Just click on "full text TSB's" and you can find all the TSB's for each year.

Here is the TSB for the scratched windows:

They don't give you an 'updated' weather-strip...they just replace it with the same one.

Like mentioned keep them windows clean and I would use maybe some Rain-X to give the galss a smoother coating to help keep dirt/debris from sticking. I can't believe that issue didn't get noticed during the R&D phase

I could swear the TSB called for a new seal kit as well...

The Rain-X is a good call... or possibly even some of the other coatings that can be applied to glass at an autobody shop (Xillon is the only brand name that springs to mind at the moment).

Glad I hadn't tinted my windows yet... and at this point I may not for quite a while to wait and see how things go.
