Hello all, new to the forum. Recently purchased an 01 excursion 7.3 I needed a tow vehicle with better mileage. I installed a Prodigy brake controller a few days ago. It powered up, but didn't get a chance to set the level. I went out the next day to hook up the trailer and there is no power to the Prodigy. I checked the fuse under the steering wheel and the 7.5 fuse in the engine compartment. All ok. Took an ohm meter and getting power for activating the foot brake, but nothing else. Is there another fuse/relay to check? I need to get this up and running, have a divisional race this weekend.
On the prodigy controller, the wire colors should be Red=Brake cold, White Ground, Black Power and Blue=controller output. First I would check for 12v on the white and black wires. If you don't see voltage, then move to a good chassis ground instead of the white wire. If you have power, then the ground is bad. If you still don't have power, you have a problem on the power wire.
If your in a hurry, it might be quicker and easier to run a new 8-10ga wire and fuse from the battery to the controller.
Tried again with the ohm meter and got ground-white wire and positive-red wire for activating the brake. Result is 12 volts. tried the white-ground and black-positive and result in no reading. Just no positive power coming thru the black wire. Any other suggestion? very maddening...

Did you have the ignition key ON when you checked for power to the BLACK wire?
Yes, the key is on. There should be constant power to the black wire.
I may have to do run a wire straight the fuse box or battery to power up the prodigy.
Thank you for the info. Just pulled #110 30a fuse and it's blown. It's the one I didn't check. Now running down to the Ford dealer to pick up a new one. Thanks again Doug!
