Would you like to see the pictures? They apparently like to bore right up the very center (pith) of my 4 by treated posts on my upper deck and have done a fine job. I have half a mind to take one off and split it up the middle to illustrate.
Yes they will. The old treated lumber used to have an arsnic compound in it....the new stuff doesnt. Carpenter bees will go after the new treated lumber like a fat kid to candy.
There are different types of pesticides you can use to prevent them from eating the wood. Some you can buy at HD or Lowes (or others) some have to be done by a licensed prefessional.
I haven't went out anywhere yet to check. I was hoping someone might have found a surefire easy way to keep them away. I'd like to know more about the Borate.
I've never compared ACQ to CCA treated lumber. Perhaps it is not a good answer to bees nesting.
IME, I never had good experience with borate solutions. They always seem to leach salts to the surface ruining any kind of finish and decreasing their effectiveness.
