well i was in the process of doing the foil delete and noticed a nice gash and dent from the power steering pump bolt on the pipe.
the gash doesnt go through the pipe but is pretty bad.
i just want to know if it will be fine if i put it back in or will it turn into a pin hole.
you can tell someone had tried to jam it putting the pipe back in or something. im the third
owner and the truck has been rebuilt as it was totaled. any thougts are appreciated.

well thats pretty messed up. i cleaned her up all nice and perty like just went for a test drive and its quite a bit louder in the cab when i get on it, love to wake up the nieghbors it does rub a little gonna see if i can put something there like a piece of cloth
Mine was smacking the bolt head also. It would, Tap,tap tap. Drove me nuts. Finally figured it out. That was when i didn my foil delete.. ended up puting the welder to it to fix the little crack. Just before you tighten the boots. Hold the pipe away then you tighten the boots.. I have alot of clearence now, can grab it and move it around without hitting.
you dont have to put anything in there just loosen the boot clamps and hold the pipe where you want it to sit and then tighten down the boot clamps. it will stay in place then.......
oh and the dent is normal. its there on purpose.....

That is my experience as well. When I bought my X it had a hole from that bolt. Welded it up and moved it over and has been fine ever since.
