Yes, I have one. No, it is not plug-n-play. You must spice wires even with the Ford unit. I don't suggest that an amateur install one as there is a lot to installing one properly.
2500 foot range I believe, have yet to have it not start while walking up to it in a parking lot.
I use it both summer and winter equally. Today it was about 98, truck was nice and cold when I jumped in it. In the winter it starts the truck on the first crank at -25f.
You will also need a Pats bypass for the security, I got that along with the remote start on Ebay for under 80.00 bucks. Installed myself, Took about 6 hours as I have never done one before but I do have electrical know how. I also soldered all of the connections. If you are looking to have it installed I would be looking at 250.00 to 500.00 depending on how fancy of a model you get.
I have a Viper 5701 installed on mine, installed it myself, took a couple days to get everything just the way I wanted it. Nothing plug and play about it.

Indeed. I found that Ford will sometimes use the same color code wires going into the same harness...and the only diff is that one is 22 gauge and the other is 18 gauge. And you only find out you tapped the wrong wire after hitting the start button and your windshield wipers start. True story. Took me three evenings to get everything working right.
