Intercooler Pipes

I'm looking to acquire everything for a near future IC install. I'm currently trying to get me hands on a 7.3 IC.

I'm curious if anyone has extra intercooler pipes laying around they could sell for cheap. I lcoated a set of pipes that are fitted for our OBS trucks, stainless steel finish but they want a decent chunk for them ($190-shipped). They also states "THEY WERE FITTED USING THE STOCK TURBO Y PIPE (F81Z6K889BA)." Can I do any better or is this a good deal?

Then, what's everyones suggestion on where to get the y-pipe? How much should I expect to shell out for it? I believe I read some people call it a spyder. Is the spyder from Banks? Overall I'm a little confused with the Y-pipe part of this project.

Just getting my ducks in a row here. I'm sending my injectors out on the 6th to Rosewood for a rebuild (stage II's) and I'm getting the PHP chip from Jim (programmed to run stage I for now) at the same time. My IC and tranny mods must follow very close behind! Actually I hope to do everything to the truck at one time. Now that I think about it, I may coming down with a serious case of PMS!

Here what you need besides the IC and the pipes you choose:
Early ’99 Y-pipe: F81Z-6K889BA

Clamp (Y-pipe to 94-97 compressor): F81Z-8287DA or M/craft Service Part #YF-2488

2 Coupler (Y-pipe to 94-97’s 2” intakes): F81Z-6C640FA (2-3/8” to 2” reducer)

Clamp (I/C tube to I/C or Y-pipe) 1C3Z-6K786BA (hot side, floating bridge, constant
torque – spring under nut)

Clamp (I/C tube to I/C or Y-pipe) 1C3Z-6K786AA (cold side, floating bridge)

So the number they gave to you is correct for the Y pipe (aka spyder). You can get it in e-bay (about 100 bucks)

Also you can get the Banks spyder (about 500-650 usd) here is a link:
Banks Twin Ram and Intercooler Pipes - this kit is intended for a 7.3L truck and 6.0L cooler. - 25970-X

Im not sure if $190 for the pipes is right, it seems a little high, you can fab yourself them for less money IMHO. Here is a link to fab your Y pipe and pipes needed and the installation:
1995 Ford C-350 (Centurion Conversions) Intercooler install pictures, videos, and sounds | SuperMotors.net

Good luck.

Ok, so is this y-pipe what I'm looking for? It doesn't list the part number or the year...guess i could email them and find out. It does say "THIS IS THE EARLY FOUR BOLT MOUNT"

The Banks spyder sounds a bit salty. I was hoping to stay under 500 including the intercooler.

Yeah, it's obvious I don't know how to insert a hyperlink on a forum.

Let's try this:

NO, NO, thats the up pipes with the union with the turbo, and are behind of the turbo, the Y PIPE you are looking for goes in front of the turbo.

GEEP I should have noticed that!

I'm still having problems locating a y-pipe. Ebay seems to not have any listed at this time. Powerstrokeshop.com has them but for 400 bucks!

Anyone out there have any other suggestions for me?

Ok everyone, this is what Ed quoted me. Please help clarify this for me..

"F81Z6K889BA before 12/7/98 list $604.28 sell $435.08 link below to order.
F81Z6K889CA after 12/7/98 LIST $158.47 SELL $114.10 LINK BELOW"

According to the prices, it sounds like most guys are using the F81Z6K889CA. But that's not part number everybody is telling me to look for. What's the difference between these to part numbers if any?

The item discription for these parts are:
F81Z6K889BA - Ford W/o ebp device - 7.3 liter turbo diesel 1999 - 2003
F81Z6K889CA - Ford W/ebp device - 7.3 liter turbo diesel 1999 - 2003

within the last year or so the price of the y-pipe that we need has jumped by about 300 bucks. i bought mine (F81Z6K889BA) from the dealership about a year ago for 125. called on the same part a couple of months ago and almost feel out of my seat by the price.

Yes thats right, and thats the correct number I also bought (F81Z6K889BA) and for some reason in some catalog (including the powerstrokeshop.com) they are like if they correspond to 1999-2003, but that is the correct number for the EARLY ´99 Y PIPE.

so be careful.

the Banks system keeps making more and more sense to me. For 640 I can get everything from Banks except the intercooler. I'll have that much and more into it if I bought everything individually.

Yes I think is a wise decision, just one advice, be careful how high or down you install the IC, because I have read that some one had to cut till 2" of the BANKS pipes, because the high installation of the IC.
