Finally finishing the work on my truck. The y-pipe turbo alignment reared its ugly head. I finally removed the ypipe/manifold clamp bolts off both sides and still no joy. Loosened clamp on EGR/ypipe cooler (Bullet Proof Diesel) and everything aligned perfectly. Tightened turbo to stanchion bolts and now having a tough time aligning y-pipe to egr cooler. Any suggestions? Not looking for 'delete the egr' but any other ideas will be greatly appreciated.
4 1/2 months and I'm tired. Real tired.
BTW. It starts and runs beautifully except for the turbo y-pipe leak. Idles smooth as 6.0l butter, good revs. Sure would like to get it out of the garage......
Don't tighten anything until things are lined up. Snug them up so they stay put once everything is aligned then tighten. I have heard of people using a ratchet strap to pull things together. Might give it a shot.
Have you tried to leave the pedestal a little loose before hooking up the clamps?
It does makes it a little harder to get at that one bolt if you have a cooler but you can get at it with a 1/4 ext and just barely get on the bolt. Not it won't be torqued but it will be snug.
Go to about the 12 minute mark, not sure if this helps at all or not.
I don't like the idea of a ratchet strap, seem like you are asking for trouble with that bellows.

Thanks for the help gentemen. i fought the Ypipe to turbo connection fo so long until i loosened the ypipe to manifold connections and the egr to y pipe clamp that i guess i figured i was in for another fight. Turned out all i had to do was climb under the truck and set the ypipe into the exhaust at which time the flanges on the egr cooler and the ypipe were in perfect alignment.
