i got a y-pipe intake for my intercooler install but i'm not sure it is going to fit. it was given to me and i was told it was from a 7.3l sd. what modifications are need to install this and how do i know that this part wil work on my truck. i have the intercooler and some pipes and just recieved this intake pipe. let me know what yall think. last i still need the boots for the complete install so if anyone knows where i can get some please share the info. thanks
If it's the y-pipe from an early 99, then yes it will work just fine. If it's from a later 7.3 SD, then no it won't. Turbo and plenum openings are 3" compared to the OBS and E99 2". If you can, post up a pic of the setup you've got.

Agree with strokersace, this are two examples of what your Ypipe must look like:
BTW you will need a couple of reducer boots from 2" to 2" 3/8, and a new clamp to connect to the turbo. Clamp (Y-pipe to 94-97 compressor): F81Z-8287DA or M/craft Service Part #YF-2488
2 Coupler (Y-pipe to 94-97’s 2” intakes): F81Z-6C640FA (2-3/8” to 2” reducer)
thanks for the pics ROENTGEEP. now i know exactly what i need. althought i was offer a turbo from a sd so i could make this intake work. do you guys think this would be a good move? the guy is willing to give me the turbo really cheap. would this be a good upgrade? i'm planning on some stage1's later on in the future.

You are welcome. I have read that the SD turbo is not a bolt on and not a good upgrade (not worth it),and that its better the OBS turbo and it will work with the stage 1`s, its better for an upgrade put a D66 for instance, but Im not sure, probably other members will chime in here about that.
Correct it's not a direct bolt on. To make the SD turbo work, you have to change the turbo pedestal, up-pipes, and intake plenums. There's probably not really any gains except it opens you up to different "drop-in" turbo options that flow much more air than stock. Like the Garrett 38R ball bearing turbo.
But as said above if you're only going with stage 1's and are dead set on upgrading turbos, go with the D66 from Beans. I'm personally converting mine over to the SD setup because I'm going to be running large stage 2's and want to have as much airflow as possible. Plus I already have all the parts to do so.

Hey Roentgeep are those part numbers for the hoses IH numbers? I need to order two for the spyder I got from an early 99 to put on my truck. I think mine are leaking now cause they are black and nasty looking. Do you know if I can order them online? Thanks

Nope they are Ford part numbers, I dont know the cross numbers with IH parts. Im sure you can order online throught some sponsors here.
Thanks again Roentgeep. I didn't find them online but I called the ford truck dealer in Sioux Falls and they will have the reducers, clamps, and turbo clamp here friday. That should be the last piece of the puzzle for my intercooler.
