Need help installing my pyrometer

I got the guages pulled out of Dad's truck today but the pyro hadn't been hooked up since he had the new exhaust so I don'tknow how it's supposed to be. Can I get new directions from Autometer or can ya'll tell me how it's done? It was originally hooked to the exhaust after the down pipe but isn't it better to hook it to the manifold somewhere? The sensor doesn't look like i thought it would, I assumed it was threaded so it could be screwed into the pipe/manifold. There were also two wires (red and orange) that ran way up into the dash somewhere that I need to know what to do with. I was a little suprised at how cheaply the install was done, he didn't get what he paid for. The boost guage was easy enough to figure out but it was't working so I don't know if it was done right or maybe jsut a loose wire somewhere. Thanks for any help here guys.
(p.s. I hate wiring and it hates me back)

I've got some computer issues right now and can't open this link, but I think it's the right one http://www.dfuser.com/Install%20Guid...structions.pdf

You want to install the probe pre-turbo. If yours has threads on it, then drill and tap (while wearing safety glasses) in the drivers side exhaust manifold. (Easier to reach and shorter distance for the wire to travel). If that's not the right link, I'm sure someone will come along with pics for you.

Thanks for the quick replies guys but it looks like I'm stuck with he stainless clamp style probe that has to be inserted after the turbo in the exhaust pipe. I've heard this isn't he best way to do it but what's the problem with it?

I'm running with 2 pyros. One pre-turbo and one post-turbo. There can be as much as a 400* difference in temps. You want the most accurate reading possible with your pyro.

I have my EGT probe drilled and clamped in my uppipe. I have it right after the bend so I am still getting accurate readings and have had no problems thus far. The manifold is obviously a more permanent option.

If you've got the clamp style, just put it on your up-pipes so you still have a pre-turbo reading.

Here's a look from the instructions I posted earlier of a clamp style probe, pre-turbo. Mine is installed this way for 3 years and no issues.
