2000 Ranger Exhaust Manifold-OUCH!!!
....and I don't mean ouch as in that's hot to touch!
Took my 2000 Ranger 2WD with 2.5L to local garage because I got a loud exhaust leak a couple days ago and knew something had broke loose. My mechanic tells me the exhaust manifold is bad and HIS cost (not retail) is $470!!! And that wasn't including the bolts or anything else! He said he couldn't find any aftermarket part so it's a Ford part only. He thought it might be possible to weld the manifold depending on how bad it is, but wasn't set up to do that kind of work and suggested I take it somewhere that works on exhausts to see if they could savage the manifold so I wouldn't have to buy a new one.
I've looked online some, and I also couldn't find an aftermarket manifold for this vehicle. Any of you guys run into this problem with this model truck? The rest of the exhaust is about shot too, so I'm looking to save the manifold if possible and keep my cost down from the $800-$1000 he figured it was going to cost to replace everything. This guy has done a lot of work for me before and has always been more than reasonable with his prices, so I'm I know he's not trying to rip me off, especially since he says I'll need to take it somewhere else (and didn't recommend his brother, cousin, neighbor....).
Thanks for any help on this one! Really need to keep this truck another year at least before I get a new one, but $1,000 on this older vehicle a couple months before the holidays really hurts!

Thanks Steve, you may very well be a lifesaver! I've sent requests for quotes to the 2 places you listed in WV, and also another in OH since that's not far either. I've used some online parts places before but hadn't heard of car-part.com, I think it will come in very handy! I'll have to share with folks I know. Will let you all know how it goes!
