hey guys i know this is off topic but i thought i would ask here because you are the ones i trust. my buddy asked me to change the fuel filter in his 2003 dodge 5.9. my question is do i need to purge the lines for air when i change the filter? thanks in advance, jake.
Don't they have that little primer pump on the side anymore?
I thought they had a little lever that you operated to prime them.
.
Or am I thinking old Mercedes????
Aren't they a spin-on filter? if so just fill it with Diesel and spin it on...I used to drive (and service) a Freightliner FL-70 with the Cummins 5.9 and if I remember correctly IT has a spin-on fuel filter, and besides that I ran it out of fuel once and just cranked it until it started........I think it does have the primer/pump arm on it though.
Bigcat has it, when I change them at work I just crack open the first injector nut. Once you see a couple drops of fuel you know the airs out, tighten it up and your ready to go.
