So the other day I'm driving down the road and my dash light for the Emergency Brake comes on telling me the brake is on. I look down and say to myself "No it's not". I pull over and push the brake down and then pull the release handle and the light goes off. Then a couple days later it does it again, did the same thing again and all is good. then it does it again a couple of days later again. Of course my 8 year old son chimes in and says dad, why are you driving around with the emergency brake on for?
Why does this keep happening, is there a adjustment that I can do to get rid of this issue?
Mine does it sometimes too as does Nolan's (4inchlovin). Seems with age the pedal gets loose and does not push the sensor up very well. If I just push my pedal to the left with my foot it shuts the light off.
Be thankful you do not have a manual trans. There is a chime that goes off non stop when you are in motion with the brake "on".
I have been meaning to get under the dash and tighten it up. Whoever gets it figured out should take some pics and do a write up. As our trucks get older this should be a more common issue.
You might check the rubber bumper on the brake pedal. Mine was cracked and when I would release the brake it would look like it was touching the switch but it was moving to one side enough to not turn the light off.
