need carburetor information
I have a 1979 F150 with a 300 6cy, 4spd tranny NP435 and its a 4x4. The original one barrel carburetor eby Carter for Motorcraft has the stamping number 7269S on it . I bought a back up and was told is would fit my application and was for a 1979. However the stamping number is different it reads 7436S. Does anybody know the difference ? The look exactly the same with the origianal carburetor has one extra vac port which is capped off. Any information will be greatly apprectiated.

I know I have several parts carbs and they're all stamped with a different number. Where the differences lie is in the small air bleeds, fuel passages, etc. inside of the carb (especially the base). If you pull the carb apart, there are tiny little holes in different places, etc.
A lot of them are very minor changes, and you probably won't notice the difference unless you're putting an emissions carb onto a non-emissions engine because it'll run lean.
