I don't have any pick-n-pull yards near me. All I have are the raqueteers that do the picking and pulling then charge you way too much for the salvage parts. Does anyone have any "self serve" yards near them? You know the type, get a truck full of stuff and pay like $20. I seem to remember there being one near Ithaca, but 4 hours is a bit of a hike. Just curious.
There is one up on rt 146a in Clifton Park which is about 15-20 miles north of Albany. The place is called Glenville auto it's run by a guy that kinda looks like Jerry Garcia. He's usually only open on Saturdays and even that seems hit or miss. He's usually pretty good to deal with if you can catch him when he's open. The thing that makes it tough is that he doesn't even have a phone so you have to go there to see if he's open.
Wow, thanks! That sounds pretty crazy. Glenville Auto in Clifton Park, I would've thought maybe, oh, I don't know, Clifton Park Auto... I'm in Nassau, so it isn't all that far away. Thanks again for the info.
Hey Brad, there is a pick-a-part in Horseheads , Auburn and Binghampton. Horseheads is about 40 miles from me (Trumansburg) and the same guy owns the one in Bimghampton. Thinking about a road trip this week, anything special you're looking for? George
I was thinking about trying to find a cheap way out on some newer model stuff like '05-07 headlights, '08 tail lights, maybe '08 power mirrors, maybe '05-07 upfitters. Kinda window shop to see what I could find. I also want to do the same for my '71 Land Cruiser. I appreciate the feedback and thanks for asking. Some day I will make a trek to my buddies house in Ithaca and Binghamton is sorta on the way. I can check it out then.
Brad, just let us know and we can see about a little G2G. I am about 1 1/2 hours from Ithaca plus I have family on my wife's side down in the Cortland area.
