1356 Slip yoke conversion?
My name is Chris and new to the board .
I have a 1994 Jeep YJ and I have installed a 302 out of a 94 5.0L Mustang along with a ZF 5speed and 1356 T-Case.
My problem is that I am going to do a spring over axle conversion and my rear Drive shaft is only a foot long.I want to put a CV style shaft with a slip joint in it but my BW has a slip yoke and I was wondering if its possible to convert it to a flange or Ujoint style end?
Any help, part numbers etc would be of great help It would also be nice to be able to hook up a speedometer cable. My t-case is shifted by a lever instead of electronically if thats any help.
Thanks Chris
I'm currently going thru the same thing. I'm putting a 1345 into a shorbed pickup, and gonna have a 3 foot driveline. Here's what i've found out:
There is a flanged yolk available in the 1356 transfer cases in the late 80's to mid 90's full size broncos. I've called several salvage yards who told me that this transfer case came in some pickups too, but I can't vouch for that. If so, it was probably a shorbed single cab pickup from around 1989 to 1995. The ford parts catalog shows these pieces, but it also says the main shaft is obsolete and unavailable too, so I'm not sure that using factory parts is the way to go.
There are about 10 of these cases available in Denver salvage yards, all for around 500 dollars. Good luck.
PS: I bought a transfer case on Ebay for 300 plus shipping.
