I have a 96' F-150 4x4 with a mazda 5 speed and 1356 t-case with a 3" suspension lift and 3/4 ton springs. 70,000 miles since the lift. The seal at the slip yoke started leaking so i put a new one in.. twice and is still leaking the day i stuck it in. The transfer case is not over full and there is a little play at the slip yoke (going into the transfer case). Could my slip yoke be worn and if it is would I need to replace the splined shaft in the t-case? Can you get longer slip yokes? Thanks for the help.
I got it fixed. It took a new slip yoke from precision bilt(KCMO), a tailshaft bushing, and a output shaft seal. Seems fine after 50 miles. I also used a little bit of ultra copper silicone to seal the tailshaft housing back up. Thanks for the help.
Not out of the ordinary that I could tell. I have to put u joint in it every thirty or fourty thousand it seems. I am running 33x 12.5s and a 4" in the front and 2" and 3/4 ton springs in the back. The mazda 5speed has some vibration in it and Im sure the t-case is loose as a goose too. There is only a couple hundred thousand on it. It probly had 180,000 or so on it before it went out. I think I might of changed the fluid in it once. Hope this helps.
