Hi guys, can anyone tell me if the injectors out of a '91 300 I6 will work ok in a '96 300I6? I'm tearing down for an intake gasket and my injectors have 160K and I have a set out of the '91 with about half the milage, but I never heard it run.Either way, I'm going to check them with cleaner and activating them. When I check them out at Rock Auto, 3 different brands gave the same number for both years, however,Motorcraft had their number different but Rock Auto's number was the same on them. Also,I know the '96 has a fuel regulator that is different than previous years. Right know I'm pulling my hair out over a seized alternator lower mounting bolt It took a day and a half of soaking with a pressured up end wrench (with a 2x4 and a floor jack) to get the egr pipe joint loose, now this. This thing is fighting me all the way,but it's 13 years old and I have had it 3,so I don't know if it's ever been torn down, looks like not. Thanks in advance guys!
The injector should be simlar. They all are bosch type injectors. The LBS/HR rate is what may be different.
Why are you replacing your injectors? That is a $$$$$ job? Why not pay a $100 to have them cleaned? As long as they still squirt you are fine. My escort has 205k on it and the injectors are fine and that pos is 20 years old?
I already have the '91 injectors, and I'm in the middle of a manifold gasket change on my '96,I just want to put the best set back in as long as I'm in there, and as long as they will work.I don't think anything is wrong with the '96 injectors,as the manifold was sucking air pretty bad. When I sprayed carb cleaner along the gasket edges, the engine smoothed right out and gained rpm, with out it,it was barely running at idle and rougher than a cobb.I will probably test them, for resistance and fire each one with a battery and leads with air pressure and injector cleaner in them, and for sure, replace all o-rings.Your input is very appreciated,Thanks.
