Some time ago I installed a power inverter in the truck but didnt have a fuse for it, well now I do, I picked up a monster 300A fuse and holder from frys a few weeks ago and put it in. It went well and the inverter really enjoys being used finally.
Yesterday I took my wife and her sister on a short road trip and decided to toss a microwave in the back seat along with a cooler of food. It worked great and the women were impressed.
I also used it at a house I was working on that didnt have power it was nice to have a work light and power tools though i had to start the truck every once and a while.
Im having trouble getting picture uploaded but when i do ill toss a picture of the fuse up.
I had to resize the pictures manually to get them to upload but here they are
the fuse holder is big and really heavy built really nice
I need to mount it better but when i put it in i was in a hurry and it was really hot outside.
thats one thing it wont run is my little 2gal craftsman air compressor because of the high startor current. but i was reading about a way to decrease the power needed to start it by putting this devise on the input to the compressor to let it get up to speed before it has to start pumping air.
Anything I should know before I install?
I am assuming I need to run a dedicated wire from the battery directly to the unit. what about a fuse?
Does it matter what Battery I run it from?

How about a big start cap? maybe get one designed for kick start harleys with mags or one from a stereo store.
