AC problem

AC not working like it should on max.It fluctuates between the vents,defrost vents and the floor vents.Anyone ever had this problem on a 99 ranger?

I think I have seen this mentioned as a blend door issue. Do a search on the forum for "blend door" and that might get you started.

This thread is titled blend door fix, but the link is broken. Might be due to the updates today.

Check under the sticky at the top of this forum. The fix should be there. I'm in the same boat with you... I'll be doing the same repair this weekend.

Blend door is temperature -- blend hot air and conditioned air to get the temp you like.

You have a vacuum leak or a funky check valve in the vacuum reservoir.

Try setting the controls to 'panel', blower on, and then accelerate rapidly. If the air flows out the defrost, it is a vacuum problem, as the manifold vacuum will drop with the throttle opened wide.
