Hey guys, just got my SS HPX line today. Only one problem...

How do you install it?

Pull the two middle oil plugs out and put the ends of the line there.

Ok, so I found it. I don't have to remove the spider do I?

Nope, but it will make it much easier if you do. Plus, it would be a good chance to check your boots out.

I did mine with the spider on but Barry's right, does make it easier. Just a tip, when you unscrew the plugs, have your HPX bolts ready to go in, then your line, oil seeps out slowly then you have't to deal with oily hands. Snug tighten, don't overtighten..

Hmm... Maybe I'll have a look see in the morning. Don't know how comfortable I am with taking the spider and whatnot off by myself.

Be warned -- I was paranoid about over-tightening, but ended up with them too lose. Had to replace the O-ring on one side as the 2500+ psi of oil shooting past it tore it up.

If you don't remove the spider, it's tough to overtighten them at least with my old hands.

True. But a set of line wrenches helps.

That what I used. I,m one for tightening things too much so take that with a grain of salt, snug them down good but be careful..

That will be the easy part. Just loosen and slip/slide and some pulling may be needed.

Give me a call and I will walk you through it. It takes about 15 minutes to install and you really don't need to remove anything unless you really want.

Clay's right, you don't need to remove anything, but for me, it makes it easier to recover lost parts and tools, which reminds me, if you do pull the spider, cover the intake openings with a rag so stuff don't get it there. I've done it both ways, one for me and one for my buddy. We pulled his spider because he needed new boots anyway. It was a lot easier without it in the way.
