Yep, that will work! Jumper those two wires together and after getting alternator fixed, verify alternator output.
one last stupid question, do you think I should jumper from black to grey or just jumper from black to Black? Or maybe a 3 way jump from both switched hots?
Just one or other as long as there is switched 12V on the R/Y wires going to the R/LG wire. The R/Y wires are the same power feed to cluster
Just got another comment on a different thread from someone else. I'm going to copy and paste below.
Plug a 510 ohm resistor into the cluster wiring plug between the red with light green stripe. And the green with red stripe. That will simulate the exciter circuit
I've proven that I'm getting voltage now and I'm about to finish installing the alternator. Should I place a resistor, or will I be okay? I do not have the time or money to afford another alternator.
I thought the resistor was just there in case the idiot light burned out?
Yes the resistor is there just in case the idiot light burns out. On other vehicles, there is no idiot lamp/resistor, just switched 12V going to alternator.
I have not messed with a 96 and up Explorder yet.......I think they are physically different and will not mount. Electrically it may be different enough not to be able to make it work with a 96 Fseries truck.
I know a 93 Explorer will not work as its a mechanical speedometer and it will not mount into the 92 to 96 F series.
