I got up this morning and wondered what I would do to pass time till I pick up my kids for the weekend and thought I would run to the junkyard. I found an 89 F250 w/7.3 and it had a good cdr and the instrument cluster was in it as well! Since I did my swap useing an 86 I haven't had a tach and my dash still said unleaded fuel only. I got both of these parts for $38! Now I just need to know what wires run from the tach sensor to the tach so I can wire it all up. Any body know the tach wireing for an 87-up IDI? I even got the plug that goes into the back of the panel .
The tach is marked as to what hooks to the 4 posts. 2 are grounds, 1 is 12v+ source and the last one goes to one of the wires from the sensor. The second wire from the sensor goes to ground. Ta Daa! You now have a tach.
I will try to wire it up that way genlightening. If you can find the wiring dia. Dave that would be great. Fonefiddy, I still have the Bronco wiring harness and it don't match up with the diesel stuff. I had to wire the ignition, fuel soleniod, glow plugs and voltage reg myself when I did this swap. Now All I need to finish it off is the tach.
