What up with this?

My '99 7.3 2wd a/t has developed this just recently. When the truck is fully warmed up, I get a subtle shake while stopped with my foot on the brake. If you put it in park it goes away, put it in reverse or drive it comes back. But that is the only time you feel it. Any ideas anyone??

Give us a few more details...like only when warmed up, where do you feel the shake, in the steering, brake pedal, or the whole truck. How about in neutral instead of park? On acceleration or only at idle? Be patient, someone will help.

Curious, if you have an Early '99 or '99.5. I don't have the answer for you but am following your thread.

Can you pull up some soft codes, maybee you have a misfire on a cylinder or two. Im thinking that may cause a rough idle, but you would'nt notice it driving.

Code it, buzz test it, I wonder if it could be a Under Valve Cover Wire harness a little loose?

Its an early 99. Not on acceleration only in gear. You can feel it in the seat of your pants. It feels like sitting on an old Harley. How about a complete tranny fluid change?

Try unplugging the ICP sensor on the front of the drivers side head behind the alternator, when these start to go bad it can cause a rough idle or a bit of a shake while sitting at idle in gear, when you unplug it the PCM goes to a default mode and it will smooth out, if that works, replace the sensor, it's a bit pricey. I just had this same thing happen to mine and the sensor fixed it. Try simple things first, I don't think it's the torque converter.

Could you drive it unplugged if the pcm is in default??? I forgot to mention I have Jody's 80 hp econo setting burned into my pcm. I also had a p1211 code last week. The truck acts fine except like sitting at a red light, there just seems to be more shake than normal. What about a sticking IPR valve and I have read where those can be removed, cleaned and re-installed??

Yes you can drive it unplugged, though I wouldn't do it any longer than necessary, the 1211 code slips my older mind, I'm sure someone here more familiar with code will chime in, IIRC the IPR can have similar symptoms, try the simple things first.

According to my DTC Library P1211 does not exist or is not documented.

I wonder if you have a slipping torque converter or one that is grabbing when it shouldn't. Can you scan your rig now and run a KOER test?

P1211 is ICP High/Low. It's extremely common to set this code with a chip, or in your case a reflashed PCM with an 80hp tune. It just means the HPOP isn't keeping up with the oil demanded to the injectors, so the ICP pressure is lower than what is being called for. Ignore it for now, that's not what's causing the shaking problem.

If it's only shaking while in gear or in reverse, and doesn't do it in neutral or park, then it's a torque converter or flywheel problem. A bad ICP sensor would also idle rough in park or neutral.

x3. Having experienced a bad ICP sensor, the symptoms are much more violent than a slight shake at idle.
