I'm replacing the clutch assembly in this truck. Anyhow, when I was taking it apart I pulled the clutch fork out of the bell housing and now that I'm ready to stab the trans back in, I can't figure out how the darn fork attaches to the bell housing. (engine in truck, bell housing attached and trans pulled back) There is a bracket on the bell housing and the fork has a spring clip but I can't see how they attach. Anyhow, looking for some help on this. Here is a photo of the bell housing bracket (arrows) and a couple of the clutch fork and clip. Thanks.

I believe you leave that piece of wire like it is in the second picture, and just slide the fork in from the outside. The piece of wire should hook under the fulcrum (bracket on the bellhousing) and the fork should stay there.
After everything is said and done, a spring on the linkage should keep some pressure on the fork to keep it from falling off.

Maybe my wire's bent the wrong way or something. It just doesn't seem designed to hook over the two tangs. I ordered another one for comparison. Anyone have any hands on experience with this? Right now I'm trying to do it with the bell housing in place but I'm really losing patience. I'm about to cut my exhaust pipes, remove the cross member, drop the tranny and get the damn bell housing out where I can see it. This simple clutch job is turning into something else! hahaha...
