....and now for something different

Picked up a leftover '11 in December. Threw a few mods at it and it's just the way I envisioned it. Don't see to many standard cab/long beds these days. Perfect for a DD, a couple with no childrens, kayaks and a motorcycle......

As purchased:

As it sits now:

Seems strange to see a truck that isn't extended or crew cab with a short bed. Nice looking truck and I'll bet the mpg's are pretty good.

Very nice. That's a real truck, not a car with a little bed on the back to get potting soil from Home Depot.

Even with running Mike's 87 octane performance tune I am averaging 17.4 mpg ALL city driving so far. The truck is sitting at 1300 miles.

It's nice to be able to close the tailgate with the bike in the bed.

The Sterling Gray was real close to the Dark Shadow Gary that my wifes' '07 Focus was. I really liked that color. It was either gray or Race Red. My dealer had one example of each on the lot.

Rims are American Racing Trench's 22x9.5 35ET. Took a while to get them as they were back ordered for a while.

I actually like the color so much that I bought a 2012 Fx4 Super Crew with the Ecoboost in Sterling Gray yesterday. It's at a dealer near DC....will pick it up next week.

Looks good, love the color!
You lowered it, right? Normally I am not a huge fan of lowered trucks, but this looks good!

That is different from most seen. Congratulations and welcome to FTE. Did you paint or Line-X/bed liner the bumpers?

Nice! That is exactly the reaction of was going for when I did the work. It is lowered......1.5" in front and 3" in back. I was going for subtle.

Thank you for the welcome. I did the bumpers with Plasti-dip as well as the replacement grille and grille shell as they were gloss black as supplied from the manufacturer. The texture and color are a perfect match to the OEM black plastic pieces and the coating is proving to be very durable.

Yes and yes. I had a 2000 4x4 extended cab with the 4.6 in it and this V6 feels far superior to that engine. I use this as a DD and don't tow anything so it was a no-brainer for me. With the 3.73 gears and limited slip it's great. I also run a 5 Star tune with a tweeked exhaust and AIRAID intake as well.
